A life Alive FAQ's

What is Sacred Sexual Intimacy?

Sacred Sexual Intimacy is the awareness of our connection to the erotic, the sexual energy within us all.  Our sexual energy is our life force energy.  It is the force behind our creative expression and our vibrant, sensual and spiritual selves.  Sacred sexual intimacy connectcs us to our inner spirit and helps us to become more open and intimate with ourselves and with those around us.  It teaches us to become intimate with our own bodies, our higher selves and other people.  It uses the senses and the breath to aid in this deeper more intimate connection. This energy can become blocked or dimmed by life experiences.  Sacred sexual intimacy coaching can wake your whole body up and bring you back to yourself.  It is in a word, healing.

What is a Shaman?

Shamans work with energy and the spirit or soul through ritual and ceremony. They heal themselves and others by entering altered states of consciousness and traveling to sacred realms and other spiritual worlds. A shaman is a healer but there are few shamans among healers. Shamanism is not a religion but a spiritual way of life that shapes all of the forms of this healing practice.  Many cultures around the world have people who are Shamans or the equivelent. A Shaman guides the healing experience with the use of sound, the elements, journeying, crystals, energetic touch and more.  At A Life Alive, I have combined my massage therapy background, my mental health training and my spiritual training, to offer you a unique and powerful approach to enhancing the way you live your life and the way you heal.

What is Shamanic Reiki?

Shamanic reiki is a combination of Reiki and Shamanic guidance.  As a reiki level II practicioner I am able to connect with the universal life force energy and serve as a conduit for your healing, through light touch.  As a Tribal Shaman high priestes I am able to utilize shamanic tools such as journeying, crystals, oils, balancing the chakras and whatever is called for during your reiki session.  This enhances the reiki session and can provide an overall sense of deep relaxation and well being - and can also remove spiritual, emotional and physical blockages held in the body.

What is Spiritual Life Coaching?

Spiritual Life Coaching is a form of coaching and guidance that is done from a spiritual lens. People are able to discuss where they are feeling stuck in their lives; or where they need assistance or spiritual guidance.  Sometimes it can be helpful to use spiritual diviination tools, experiential excercises or guided meditation to assist someone in their coaching session.  Spiritual life coaching is not a replacement for psychotherapy but can be a way to enhance it.  What is it that is stopping you from doing that which you love to do?  How can you reconnect with your self, your partner, your family?  We can look at these things together from a spiritual perspective and see what may be blocking the path of your own inner wisdom.

What is Body Love Coaching?

Body love coaching is a form of coaching focused on body image and connection.  Goals of body love coaching include: learning to love your body, learning to be more present in your body, how to establish a more respectful and intimate relationship with your body and with others.  The way you feel about your body can affect many aspects of your life and relationships.  Body love coaching can include talking, experiential excercises, guided meditations and embodiment exercises like movement and breathwork, which will help you establish a stronger connection to your body, a better self image than you came in with, and a stronger sense of self.

What is the difference between a ritual and a ceremony?

I absolutely love this description.  I couldn't have said it better myself, "A ritual is a form of action done with intention...Really, any action can be a ritual if it is done with an awareness that brings you more into connection with yourself and your world. Ritual is the means of connecting. Ceremony involves a number of rituals that are woven together into a whole for the purpose of effecting/changing/transforming a pattern of energy. Ceremony can facilitate release, renewal, centering, inspiration, insight, vision." - Elizabeth Cogburn, ceremonialist, in "Warriors of the Beauty Way"
